Fellowships
Travel grant for Moishe Postone archive
The Moishe Postone Legacy Project is happy to announce that we have a limited amount of funds available to support researchers wishing to work in the Moishe Postone archive in the University of Chicago Special Collections with a small travel grant where necessary.
These grants will contribute up to a maximum of $1000 to the costs of reasonable and necessary travel and/or accommodation, depending on need, length of stay and costs of travel. Preference will be given to applicants without access to alternative funding and/or in fixed-term, part-time or no employment. Applications are welcome from researchers within and outside of academia.
Application process
There will be two deadlines in 2026:
June 1st
October 26th
(Deadlines in future years may vary - check back here)
Please submit the following documents, as a single pdf attachment, to mpostone.legacy@gmail.com. Please include “Travel Grant” in the subject line:
A brief description of your research interests and the project you are working on, and of possible outcomes (publications, events, theses, artwork…).
An itemized budget for travel and accommodation costs.
A short CV or Resumé (2 pages max)
After the end of your trip
MPLP will reimburse your travel costs up to the awarded sum. For that, we would ask you to provide us with:
Travel receipts
A short report about your research and outcomes.
Please keep in mind:
These travel funds are limited. We would like to enable as many researchers as possible to visit the archive, especially those who do not have access to funding from universities or other sources. We would therefore ask you to also consider alternative sources of funding if they are available to you, in solidarity with other people working on Postone, and to keep costs to a reasonable level.
Please also consider applying for a Platzman Fellowship from the University of Chicago to support work in the Special Collections. The deadline is in February:
